If I Were an English Teacher

These days, I am busy at applying the program of education. Actually, I do aspire to teach English in senior high school in my near future. It is my ambition and goal; it is a career I am eager to purse. As a teacher, I will advocate some kinds of reforms; I will improve learning techniques. And, the following is how I plan to teach.

First of all, I will make my class interesting; I will teach with enthusiasm, and my lessons will be exciting and fun. I hope my class will be full of class drills which are active. Class activities will be interactive. I will keep every student “on his toes.” We will give speeches, have debates and do presentations; we will perform skits, discuss movie and learn song; we will have field trips and welcome guest visitors, as well.

Second, I will use practical materials. I will ignore boring “English book” and only up-to-date texts will be used. Conversation referring to the listening and speaking skills will be a priority and the daily American vernacular will be focused on. Then, Grammar and composition referring to reading and writing skills will be secondary. I believe that learning of some magnificent idioms, slang and popular expressions will also be important.

Third, my daily routine will be recitation. “Repetition creates fluency.” My focus will be on reciting some outstanding speech, prose, drama and, poetry. Everyone in my class will have to speak English loudly and only English will be spoken. I hope my students will be able to speak out as well as native speakers.

Last be not lease, I will instill them loves of English. I will inspire a passion for the language. I will encourage my students to be fascinated by English for their whole life.
